We received some good news today, though not exactly the news for which we were hoping. Our file has been confirmed as having been submitted to court! For those of you not in the adoption loop, that means that we won't have to travel to Ethiopia twice :) I neglected to write about some of the recent changes in the Ethiopian adoption process. In a nutshell, a new rule will go into effect for any family who does not have their file submitted to the Ethiopian court by April 9th. These adoptive parents will be required to be present for their court date in Ethiopia and then will have to travel a second time to bring their child(ren) home several weeks after passing court. We are now assured that we only have to travel once, meaning we don't have to spend extra money on traveling costs and we won't have to leave our little girl in Ethiopia after meeting her :)
The downside of this news is that it still may be a few weeks before we are assigned a court date. We had been hoping to hear any day now, but it looks like that is not the case. I'm looking at the bright side though and that is our file has been submitted! I am relieved!!!
